DATA CENTERS

Precision lifting inside the data center.

Switchgear, UPS cabinets, and CRAH units have to land within fractions of an inch, inside a building a crane can't enter. Here's how battery Jekko mini cranes do it.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
→Battery-electric Jekkos work inside occupied, conditioned space: no exhaust, low noise, model-specific charging.
→From the compact SPX328EVO to the higher-capacity SPX1280, compare configurations for equipment setting between the dock and the work area.
→Floor loading is checkable before delivery: published track pressures, outrigger reactions, and CLE's simulator tools.

The data center lifting problem

Data centers concentrate heavy, expensive, sensitive equipment inside finished, access-controlled buildings. Switchgear, UPS cabinets, battery strings, PDUs, CRAH units, and busway all have to travel from a loading dock through corridors and doorways, then land within fractions of an inch, often beside live infrastructure. A conventional crane never gets past the front door, and a forklift supports the load from below with limited precision at placement.

This is exactly the envelope a Jekko mini crane is built for: serious capacity and reach packaged in a machine that fits through the same openings the equipment does.

Why battery Jekkos fit the environment

Zero emissions in occupied, conditioned space

Battery configurations of the Jekko SPX fleet avoid engine exhaust inside conditioned work areas. Confirm the approved charging supply and operating procedure for the unit. Indoor use still requires the facility's approval, and battery power does not remove controls for the work itself.

Low noise beside operating halls

Electric operation keeps sound levels low enough for crews to communicate normally, which matters when work happens adjacent to live data halls or during occupied-facility retrofits.

Floor-friendly setup

Obtain the configured machine weight, track loading and manufacturer outrigger reactions so the slab, ramp and supporting structure can be checked before delivery. Pads distribute contact load but do not establish structural capacity. CLE's Outrigger Simulator is a preliminary planning aid for this review, not an engineered floor approval.

The lifts these machines actually do

→Setting switchgear sections and transformers through equipment corridors
→Placing UPS and battery cabinets in electrical rooms with limited overhead
→Landing CRAH/CRAC units and pump skids in mechanical galleries
→Positioning busway and cable tray sections overhead
→Rigging generator components in and out of enclosures
→Reaching over installed rows to place equipment a forklift cannot approach

Which machine fits which job

The SPX328 CL technical data prints a width of 2 ft 5 in and a 5,950 lb maximum capacity. The SPX532.2 offers a different working envelope and approved jib options. The SPX650 has an 11,020 lb maximum capacity and the SPX1280 a 17,637 lb maximum capacity in the referenced sheets. Check each pick against its actual configuration and radius; none of these headline figures applies throughout the working envelope.

Plan the pick, not just the machine: capacity at the required radius decides the lift, not the headline rating. Run the numbers in CLE's Crane Finder, then confirm against the rated load chart with our team before delivery.

What CLE needs to quote a data center lift

→Load weight and dimensions (from the equipment submittal)
→Pick radius and set radius
→Required hook height and overhead clearance
→Door, corridor, and turn dimensions on the travel path
→Floor construction and any below-grade spaces on the route
→Power available for charging, and the project schedule

Send photos and drawings with the request and we can usually confirm feasibility the same day. See how contractors use the fleet on our Data Centers industry page.
