Will it fit through the door?
Compare the documented dimensions.

The first question on an indoor lift is often whether the machine will fit through the door. Compare the crane's transport dimensions with the measured clear opening at the narrowest point on the route. The table below compares models and identifies the manufacturer sheets available for comparison. It is not a promise that a nominal door size admits a particular machine.

01The four doors that matter

Check each opening type along the route: a single interior door, a commercial door, a double-door pair and the loading-bay rollup. Nominal door dimensions do not equal clear openings. Stops, hinges, closers, mullions and the raised curtain can reduce clearance. Measure the actual opening and confirm whether any removable hardware can be taken out with the building's permission.

Dimensions are from the named manufacturer sheets listed below, in the stated transport or closed-track configuration. A dash means the figure is not established for the exact model here. Every opening cell requires measurement; no automatic pass is inferred from a nominal door size. Confirm the delivered unit, attachments, clearances and swept route with CLE. Capacity is a headline rating only, except the SPX509.2's owner-confirmed derate ceiling pending its own sheet.

Single interior doors

For a narrow single opening, start by comparing the SPX328EVO, Maeda MC285C-2 and SPX509.2 transport dimensions with the actual clear width and height. The MPK06.2 is another compact option, but its technical data prints a 2 ft 9 in width. Door hardware, the next turn, thresholds and the route's floor loading can rule out a machine that appears to fit at the first opening.

Commercial doors

A commercial opening may admit more compact machines, but the label on the door is not a measurement. Compare the SPX509.2 and SPX532.2 with the frame, closer and approach. Confirm the available turning room and the power configuration needed for occupied indoor work; machine access and indoor suitability are separate checks.

Double-door openings

A double door with an approved removable mullion may open the route to the MPK10.2, SPX527, MPK20.2, MPK50 or SPX650. Their dimensions and operating requirements differ. The SPX650 CL-2 sheet prints 3 ft 4 in closed-track width and 6 ft 10 in height. Measure both axes and the approach rather than assuming a pair of doors admits every machine in this group.

Width is the first check, not the only one. A machine that fits the measured opening still has to make the turn beyond it and clear the closer overhead. Walk the whole route with the access checklist.

Loading-bay rollups

At a loading bay, compare the MC305, MC405, Broderson IC-35, IC-40, IC-80 and SPX1280 against the measured opening and turn into the aisle. Cab, boom rest, accessories and transport configuration affect the envelope. Confirm any unresolved model or configuration before using a dimension for access planning.

06What else has to clear

  • Height under the head and closer. Measure to the lowest obstruction and compare with the actual transport configuration, including boom rest, cab and accessories.
  • The threshold and ramp. Check the machine travel limits, approach geometry and load rating of any proposed ramp or dock plate.
  • The turn. Check the entire swept path, not just the width of each corridor; length and turning geometry matter.
  • The floor. Getting through the door onto a suspended slab is a structural question, not an access one. Bring the machine weight and pad reactions.
  • The elevator. Check the car dimensions, door opening and rated load with the elevator authority. Include the configured machine, people, attachments and all other carried loads.

Check the complete route

Measure the clear width between the door stops, the clear height under the head, and note the tightest point on the route. Put those numbers into the Fit Check tool for preliminary screening only. Its stored dimensions do not confirm access for the delivered unit. Check the exact machine's current manufacturer dimensions, configuration, required clearances and complete route with CLE before booking; a tool pass is not access approval. Send photos of the opening and approach with the quote request.
