Delivery day: what to have ready when the truck arrives.

Delivery goes more smoothly when access, power, paperwork, and the setup area are ready. Here is the ready list.

5 MIN READ·UPDATED SEPTEMBER 5, 2026·BY THE CLE LIFT PLANNING TEAM
KEY TAKEAWAYS
→The truck needs a place to park and a straight shot to the door. Clear it the day before, not when the driver calls.
→Have the route open, the outlet identified, and the pads or mats on site before the crane rolls off.
→One person on site with authority to sign and answer questions saves everyone an hour.

1. Where the truck goes

CLE delivers on a flatbed or tilt trailer. Confirm the actual delivery vehicle, unloading footprint, ground conditions, and room for the crane to leave the ramps and turn toward the building. Reserve and clear that space before the agreed arrival time. On a city street, this may require a temporary no-parking permit; on a plant site, coordinate access with security ahead of delivery.

2. The route is open

Everything you measured on the access checklist now has to be true in real life. Doors unlocked and propped, alarms bypassed, the corridor clear of carts and material, the dock plate in place, the elevator reserved if one is involved. If the route crosses finished floors, the ground protection mats go down before the machine arrives, not after it has marked the terrazzo.

3. The setup area

  • Outrigger pads or mats laid out where the legs will land, sized from the reaction sheet
  • Obstacles in the footprint moved or noted so the operator can plan an asymmetric setup
  • Floor confirmed for the machine weight and pad loads, with the engineer's sign-off if the slab is suspended
  • Overhead checked where the boom will rise
  • Exclusion zone marked if the area is shared with other trades

4. Power

Confirm the power supply required by the actual machine and its charger or electric option. Identify a suitable circuit and receptacle, verify the cable arrangement with the electrician, and make sure the supply remains available when charging is needed. A timer or locked electrical room can defeat an overnight charging plan. Engine-powered machines need an approved fuel, refueling, and ventilation plan.

5. Paperwork and people

  • Signed rental agreement and any COI the site requires, done before the truck leaves the yard
  • Tax-exempt certificate on file if it applies
  • A named person on site to accept delivery, sign the condition report, and walk the machine with the driver
  • The operator present for the handover if possible, so the setup walk-through happens once

6. What happens at handover

The driver unloads, tracks the crane to the setup area or as close as the route allows, and walks through the machine with your operator: controls, remote pairing, outrigger sequence, stability display, charging, and the load chart binder. Both sides sign the condition report with photos. From arrival to signed handover is typically twenty to thirty minutes when the items above are ready.
