Turned away at the gate.
Why lifting equipment gets rejected.

A machine gets rejected at the gate for one of a short list of reasons, and every one of them is avoidable the week before. Here is the list, from the ones we see most.

01Exhaust indoors

The site is occupied, the facilities manager sees a diesel engine, and the machine goes back on the truck. Hospitals, data centers, food plants, schools, and most commercial interiors will not take an engine inside. The fix is a battery Jekko or a dual-power Maeda on electric, decided at booking, not at the door. Our power guide maps machines to buildings.

02Weight on the floor

The building engineer asks what it weighs and what each outrigger puts down, and nobody has the number. Or the number exists and it exceeds what the slab was approved for. Suspended floors, garage decks, and old buildings all ask this. Bring the machine weight and the published pad reaction, or a lighter machine.

03Width at the door

The crane is measured against the doorway everyone remembered and not the fire door around the corner, the electrical panel in the hallway, or the elevator car. It fits the room and cannot reach it. Walk the route with the access checklist and check the transport width against the tightest point, not the widest.

04Paperwork: chart, COI, operator

  • No load chart on the machine. Every CLE rental ships with the manual and the current chart for its configuration; keep them with the crane.
  • No certificate of insurance. The GC needs to be named before the truck arrives. Send the requirements with the booking.
  • Operator credentials. Confirm training and certification requirements with the employer and site for the actual machine and work. Do not assume a derate removes those duties. CLE supplies bare equipment only; the customer arranges the qualified operator.

05No outrigger numbers

Reviewers may need manufacturer pad reactions and a proposed pad layout before approving the machine. Arriving without them can delay the job. The Outrigger Simulator can support preliminary planning, but its output is not a substitute for the correct manufacturer's data or an engineer's structural review. Obtain the required configuration-specific information before delivery.

06Clear all seven before the truck leaves

  • Power source matches the building's exhaust rules
  • Machine weight and pad reactions in the submittal, engineer's sign-off if the floor is suspended
  • Transport width and height checked against the tightest point on the route
  • Load chart and manual with the machine
  • COI issued, GC named
  • Operator training and certification documented for the machine class
  • Pad layout and ground protection sized and on the truck
Send CLE the site requirements with the booking and we will build the package: spec sheet, chart, reaction sheet, COI, and the right machine for the door and the floor.
Have a site with rules? Send them over.Tell us the exhaust policy, the floor, the access, and the paperwork the GC wants. We'll match the machine and assemble the submittal.
